If you have a MPVI 2 or 3 and have been using the cracked version of the software the last firmware update allows HP Tuners to see if you have been writing without a license and the moment you resync your interface it will be disabled.
When you start a ticket for help they will request you send the unit in and once they have it they will inform you that you have violated the EULA and will keep the interface and basically you are fucked.
I know 2 people this has happened to personally and all the screaming, shouting and swearing is not getting your interface back or any valid licenses either.
If you want to take legal action they will take legal action as well and prove you violated the EULA so good luck with that.
So keep your interface offline and don't update your software or your firmware as going back in firmware will not fix the issue either.
If you think I am full of shit then good luck is all I can say.

I confirm! vcm editor versions starting from version 5 began to track the number of records and their licenses. If you do resync, then it is more likely that your mpvi2/3 interface will be disabled.

How?
There is a thread on another forum do a search for "i resurrected my hp tuners mpvi2 device from the depths of hell" in google and it will come up.
Reading between the lines as he has not said how he did it but noted in a image he posted that he is using v4.10.4 and his firmware is an older version I think maybe he has gone back in the firmware version to as early as he can on v4 and possibly got it working. Since the MPVI3 does not work on v4 this would make sense why HP Tuner are trying to get everyone to upgrade.
Going back in firmware is easy enough there is a youtube video explaining it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weZ6gfci6go
Further information has come out in that the MPVI2 has a sdcard inside it and that is what needs modifying and the MPVi3 does not have one so at this stage can't be done.
As to what he does with the sdcard I have no idea.
